Ghana, Uganda reach Total U-20 AFCON finals

Ghana’s U20 team, Black Satellites will engage Uganda in the final of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Championship.

The Satellites made it to their sixth U-20 Africa Cup of Nations final after beating Group C opponents Gambia 1-0 in the first semifinals of the tournament at the Stade Olympique Nouakchott.

Dreams FC’s Percious Boah scored the only goal of the game, converting a free-kick from 19 yards that beat Lamin Saidy in the Gambia goal.

Their opponent, Uganda on the other hand, defied the odds to book a place in the finals following a 4-1 win against Tunisia in the semifinal on Monday.

The Hippos are the surprise package of this year’s finals, having beaten fancy opponents like Mozambique and host nation Mauritania in the tournament.

Uganda will need more of that ingenuity and luck against the West African giants at the Stade Olympique on Saturday.

Ghana is chasing their fourth Afcon title after wins in 1993, 1999 and 2009.
