19 injured in Gomoa road crash

A Sprinter bus with registration number GN 3452-17 has somersaulted multiple times and landed in a ditch resulting in 19 passengers sustaining injuries at Gomoa Onyaadze on the Kasoa-Cape Coast Highway.

The accident was reported to have happened on Monday evening.

Three out of the 19 are in critical condition, with the victims receiving treatment at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.

It was reported that the unfortunate incident occurred after the back tyre of the Sprinter bus, travelling from Adubiase, burst, causing the driver to lose control of the steering wheel.

The Apam District Fire Service Commander, ACFO Adolf Ankomah Nuamah, who confirmed the incident, said the victims included 11 females and eight males.

This is not the only accident in the region in the past week.

On March 16, a truck was reported to have veered off its lane and run over a taxi cab with registration number GW-7168-19 killing the taxi driver on the spot at Agona Mensakrom in the Agona West District of the Central Region.

It is reported that the taxi cab was transporting a Senior High School Form One Student from Agona Swedru to Breman Asikuma Senior High School.

Upon reaching Agona Mensakrom, the truck veered off its lane and ran over the taxi, killing the driver instantly.

Four others in the taxi were injured and rushed to the Agona Swedru Government Hospital for treatment.
