National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has accused the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta of peddling falsehood.
According to him, the Minister in his presentation of the Financial Statement Economic Policy to parliament on Wednesday, November 13, said, Ghana has not imported a grain of maize in the whole of 2019.
“The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta has been exposed again.”
“According to data from the United States Department of Agriculture on Ghana’s Corn imports, Ghana has so far imported a total of 50,000 metric tonnes of Maize this year, 2019. This figure is far higher than the 31,000 metric tonnes of Maize imported by Ghana in the year 2016.
Clearly, Ken Ofori Atta lied when he stated during the 2020 budget presentation that Ghana has not imported a grain of maize for the year 2019.”
