Five political parties, including the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have boycotted a meeting organized by the Electoral Commission (EC) for a demonstration on a new voters register.

The other parties are the Peoples National Covention, Egle party, All Peoples Congress and United Front Party

They were were invited for a demonstration on the new system developed by some consultants.

The system will use telecommunication companies to transmit 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary election results.

Addressing a news conference in Accra Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Mr Peter Boamah Otokunor, accused the Jean Mensah led administration of sidelining IPAC in preparations for elections 2020.

He questioned the motive for the composition of the advisory committee for the EC.

“She has now brought in new advisory committee and we are asking what is that committee supposed to do? Are they going to do the work of IPAC? or they are going to advice on something else.

“So that tells you that IPAC is being sidelined. She should provide us the necessary information to decide. As at now, IPAC has not taken any decision, nobody has taken any decision to introduce a new register” he said.
