2023 AFCON qualifiers: Fan who invaded pitch in Ghana’s win over Angola could be sanctioned

According to reports, the fan who invaded the pitch during Ghana’s 1-0 win over vs Angola on Thursday may face legal repercussions for his behaviour.

The supporter entered the playing area in an attempt to embrace Mohammed Kudus during a break in the second half of the match.

However, a swift intervention by law police officers ensured that the situation was brought under control, and the match was able to resume.

Regrettably, the disruption did not end there. Subsequently, additional fans attempted to take selfies with the Black Stars players on the pitch after the game, prompting further intervention by the police.

Pitch invasion has resulted in legal action in the past, and this instance is no exception.

In 2019, during Ghana’s victory over South Africa, a comparable incident took place, and the culprit faced legal action as a result.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) also imposed a fine of $10,000 on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as a consequence of the occurrence.
