2023 AFCON Qualifiers: Kumasi bracing for first Black Stars game this year

Ghana will host Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on March 23, 2023 as they seek to secure early qualification to the continental showpiece.

The Black Stars has always resorted to Kumasi for their crucial games in both AFCON and World Cup qualifiers.

The four-time African champions hosted Nigeria at the same venue in the World Cup play-off in March 2022, where the stadium was filled to the brim.

Ghana played a pulsating goalless draw at the Baba Yara Stadium before securing qualification over Nigeria on an away goal rule after 1-1 draw.

The West African powerhouse returns to Kumasi later this month for their crucial game against Angola. Football fanatics in the Kumasi and its environs are bracing for the Black Stars first game in 2023.

The players are expected to arrive in Ghana next week ahead of the doubleheader against Angola.

Ghana will travel for the reverse fixture in Luanda on March, 2027.

The Black Stars are joint top of the Group E table with 4 points from two games following a 3-0 win over Madagascar and a 1-1 draw with Central African Republic in June last year
