Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has revealed that the government has set aside GH¢100 million to cover monthly allowances for assembly members nationwide.
Dr. Ato Forson announced this during the presentation of the 2025 Budget Statement in Parliament on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
This initiative is designed to bolster local governance and enhance the effectiveness of assembly members as they fulfil their duties.
Dr. Ato Forson emphasised the vital role of assembly members in grassroots governance, underscoring that these allowances will encourage them to serve their communities.
He also pointed out that this funding represents a significant step toward acknowledging and supporting the efforts of local government representatives.

“Mr Speaker, an amount of GH¢100 million has been allocated for the payment of monthly allowance to all Assembly Members,” he stated.
