South African songstress, Tyla, has won the ‘Best Afrobeats’ award at the 2025 edition of the MTV Video Music Awards, VMAs.
She won the award over her Nigerian competitors with ‘Push 2 Start’, her hit song.
Tyla, who clinched the top Afrobeats honour, however, lost in the ‘Best Choreography’ category.
Other African nominees, including Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, left empty-handed.
Popular American singer Lady Gaga became the overall winner of the 2025 VMAs with four awards, including ‘Artist of the Year’, ‘Best Direction’, ‘Best Collaboration, and ‘Best Art Direction’.
