A 60-year-old man, Samuel Sam, is recovering at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital after his genitals were severed under shocking circumstances in his girlfriend’s room at Kwesimintsim Zongo in the Western Region.
Mr. Sam, who lives and works in Tarkwa, had travelled to spend the Easter holidays with his girlfriend, Stella, when the incident happened.
According to reports, the couple had stepped out into the house’s compound to enjoy some fresh air after their electricity was cut.
Later that night, they returned to the bedroom, but what was meant to be a quiet evening turned into a nightmare.
Stella, upon entering the dark room, stepped into a liquid she assumed was water. When she turned on the light, she was horrified to find Mr. Sam lying naked in a pool of blood, with a bread knife nearby.
His penis had been completely severed, and part of his testicles was also cut off.
The Assembly member for the area, Eric Acolatse, confirmed the incident and said Mr. Sam alleged he was attacked by two unknown men who restrained him and used a knife to mutilate him.
Stella was arrested by the police for questioning but has since been granted bail.
Residents are speculating that the attack might be linked to Stella’s previous relationships, possibly involving a jealous ex or a sugar daddy she had cut ties with.
The police have since launched an investigation into the case.
