Nations Football Club defender Razak Simpson has commended teammate Faisal Charwetey for having an outstanding season and believes that the youngster will have an even better season than the 2024-2025 season.
Competing in his debut season in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), 22-year-old Charwetey scored 12 goals and added two assists in 30 league games after joining Nations FC from Akatsi All Stars.
Charwetey’s brilliant play as a second striker/ winger put Nations on the cusp of winning its first ever GPL title until a series of controversies in the penultimate game had Nations FC end the campaign in fifth place.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after bagging the Home-Based Player of the Year Award and Goal of the Year Award at the 2025 Ghana Football Awards, Simpson praised Charwetey and envisaged a better campaign for him next season.
“He really impacted [the team] so much…he hasn’t played in the Ghana Premier League before but when he came in, he played so well. You will see him [play] better next season, he’s a top top quality player” Simpson said.
