Robbers slash policewoman’s neck, steal iPhone in Tema

Two suspected armed robbers have been arrested for attacking a police officer and robbing her of her mobile phone in Tema.

The suspects, identified as Mustapha Abu, an auto mechanic, and Sadat Mohammed Issah, an electrician, allegedly committed the crime while riding a motorbike.

Lance Corporal Confidence Tetteh, who is stationed at Tema Community Two, was returning from an evening church service when the attack occurred.

According to police sources, the two men accosted her near her home, with Mustapha reportedly wielding a machete.

Eyewitnesses and initial investigations suggest that Mustapha, who was riding pillion, placed the machete on the officer’s neck and demanded her phone, threatening her life.

Despite the threat, Lance Corporal Tetteh resisted, prompting the assailant to slash her neck, leaving a deep wound close to her throat.

The suspects then fled the scene with her iPhone XR.

Later that same day, police tracked down and arrested Mustapha and Sadat.

A search conducted on them led to the recovery of the stolen iPhone along with three other phones suspected to have been taken from unidentified victims.

Lance Corporal Tetteh is currently receiving medical treatment, and police investigations are ongoing to determine if the suspects are linked to other crimes in the area.
