Most netizens and their counterparts in the diaspora tried to act as ostriches, their heads buried in their palms.

Those with immediate access consorted with the gourd that houses palm wine and emptied the content of its sacred shrine, seeking escape to an alternate reality.

Yet, the raw palpability of the violent cessation of lives, depicted in gory scenes on our phones’ screens across all social media channels, caused us all to scream in agony from under mahogany trees, desks, or chairs.

Alas! God urgently needs His angels before their earthly time.

Nonetheless, since this is not the prayer we hoped for, Allah, may You mitigate Your abrupt need for Your sons with Your Holy Spirit.

In the form of a Nightingale, who will nurse this nightmarish end of their lives for their families—mothers, fathers, wives, children—and all of us who depended on their departed souls. For You are ‘Subhanallah’!
