A/R: Five inmates participate in 2025 BECE
Five inmates from the Kumasi Central Prison are participating in the ongoing 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The examination, which commenced today, Wednesday, June 11, 2025, is expected to end on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
The inmates, aged between 20 and 25 years, are reportedly writing their exams at the Bantama exam Centre.
Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, in his tour of BECE centres, encouraged the inmates and assured them of support in paying their WASSCE registration fees following a successful completion at this junior high level.
“I am happy to see these inmates writing the BECE, and it’s a symbol of hope in their lives,” he said.
He further admonished the students to refrain from all forms of examination malpractices.
“Your destiny commences today, and you are to take the exams seriously to have your future,” Mr Boadi entreated the candidates.
A total number of 120,285 pupils are participating in the ongoing BECE at 432 centres in the Ashanti region out of the national figure of over 600,000 candidates.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has also encouraged this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates to believe in themselves and desist from seeking external support.
