A 30-year-old hawker has lost her life after a long vehicle failed its brakes and ran over her in Aboabo, located in the Asokore Mampong municipality of the Ashanti region.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased was selling electrical cables near the Airport Roundabout – Anloga Junction Highway at the time of the incident.
Authorities from the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) at the Airport Police Station swiftly arrived at the scene.
Despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, and her body was transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital mortuary.
It would be recalled that in May 2024, a similar incident occurred as a 10-year-old hawker, identified as Hawa, met her untimely death after a tipper truck with the registration number GM 2312 – 21 ran over her at Mankessim, in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.
She was crossing the Mankessim to Cape Coast Highway when the accident occurred in the middle of the road.
The incident happened in the early hours of Monday, May 6, 2024.
Hawa, who was selling mangoes, was rushed to the Mercy Women’s Catholic Hospital at Mankessim but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
