An aspiring parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) in the Abuakwa South Constituency in the Eastern Region, has been attacked by unknown assailants while driving.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at about 3:00 pm.
The Abuakwa South Communications Officer of the NDC Aikins Ofori who confirmed the incident said, the victim, Solomon Nana Frimpong was in his private vehicle coming from a hotel in his community-Kyebi Amanfrom when suddenly some young men on a motorbike, pretending to be his supporters stopped him.
He then stopped to interact with them only to be attacked with a machete and robbed.
The suspects inflicted machete wounds to his left arm and ribs and absconded with an amount of 20,000 Ghana Cedis.
The three suspects bolted and left the bleeding victim in the vehicle.
He has since been hospitalized at Kyebi Government hospital.
The case has been reported to the police.
Meanwhile, the victim, Nana Frimpong, was expected to file his nomination today, Wednesday.
