Allow truth to prevail – Election stakeholders told

The Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC), Rt. Rev. Dr Setorwu Ofori, has admonished election stakeholders in the 2020 elections to let truth prevail.

This caution comes on the back of controversies surrounding the winner in the just ended general elections.

The opposition National Democratic Congress is contesting the results of the presidential and some parliamentary results in the election.

Rt. Rev. Dr Ofori who made the call to the Electoral Commission (EC), the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to use dialogue to ensure that the pursuit of truth is given a chance in order to calm the seeming tension in the country.

The Moderator was addressing the staff of the GEC Head Office on the back of the developments in the country following the declaration of the results of the 2020 General Elections.

The flagbearer of the NDC, former President John Mahama, described results of the election as “fictional and flawed.”

According to the minister, the dialogue is the best way to resolve all misunderstanding.

Rev. Dr. Ofori observed that Ghanaians, in general, were peace-loving and would under normal circumstances not engage in acts to disturb the peace being enjoyed over the years.

He noted that the demonstrations and the isolated violence being experienced in parts of the country alluded to the fact that, some people were still seeking the truth.

“In elections, no human lives are expected to be lost. If Jesus were asked to recommend the way forward for Ghana, he would never recommend violence,” Rev. Dr. Ofori said.

“If the EC said it is speaking the truth, the NPP and the NDC both claim what they are saying is the truth, then let their assertions be subjected to independent verification.

“After the independent verification, we are hopeful the truth will emerge and that will be acceptable to all. Two parties cannot win an election; one will win and the other will lose or a runoff,” he noted.

The Moderator said, in John 14:6a, Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.” “This truth can be related to every area of our lives. As Christians, we need to stand for the truth always. The truth, the Bible says, will set us free.”

He made a special appeal to the youth to remain calm and be hopeful for better years ahead.

The Synod Clerk of the Church, Rev. Raphael Mac Attih, emphatically stated that the Global Evangelical Church was not affiliated to any political party and would never align with any political party, no matter the circumstances.

“We are not on the side of any political party but on the side of Ghana. We will not side or declare allegiance to any political party. We are only after the truth”, he said.

Thank you Rev. Moderator. You have said it all. As much as you are not aligned with any political party in the country the truth is there for all to see and hear. The EC must wake up to the truth if Indeed she is God fearing.

The EC has never said anywhere that she is God fearing. We believe what people do and not what they say

Its only unfortunate that some leaders of this country feel to always be at the better side , assuming the EC said it’s the NDC who won the election will they be protesting the result and this you feel you were cheated in the election result then go to court after all this is not going to be the first one in this country, er the citizenry should also be careful with leaders of parochial interest because no family member of this said political parties will be involve in this demonstration here a and there, God hvr mercy on us, my Moderator and the synord Clark had said it all, a word to a wisenis enough, Go bless us all
