Amamere Welcomes Zeta Phi Beta Sorority To Ghana

The Amamere Folks Music ‘n’ Dance Ensemble has held a cultural music and dance concert at the Alisa Hotel to officially welcome the members of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority who are currently touring the country.

The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority kicked off its tour to some selected communities and tourist attraction centres on September 24 and ends on October 3.

The 158-member group of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority during the tour will explore some sceneries from Ghana’s attractive beaches, national parks, wildlife reserves, Cape Coast and Elmina castles as well as the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.

The tour is a follow-up to several of the initiatives Zetas began in 2003-2004 under the International Women of Colour Program and Mrs. Mary E. Singletary.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority will also focus on addressing social issues in the country. The organisation will implement a water well programme, digging over 60 wells throughout the country in deprived areas to serve communities.

Zeta over the years have exercised a level of civic responsibility by awarding scholarship grants, conducting community educational programmes and activities, and engaging in foundation scholarship-related research.

In addition, they built a 24-bed health clinic at Afua Kobi Ampem Girls School in the Ashanti Region and in 2010 helped to establish the Children’s Library in Cape Coast.

Amamere has been engaged to perform music and dance at various destinations to entertain Zeta Phi Beta Sorority members.
