Ghana is mourning the loss of Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo, the renowned man of God, inventor, and philanthropist, widely known as “Kantanka, the African Star.”
According to his family, he passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 77.
The Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church confirmed his death in an official release signed by his daughter, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, former Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya.
The statement described him as a gallant son whose legacy was defined by his struggles, dreams, and unwavering commitment to faith and excellence.
Romans 14:8 was cited in the announcement, reflecting his devotion to God: “For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord”.
Beyond his ministry, Apostle Safo made his mark as a pioneer in agriculture, industry, and technology.
His Kantanka innovations inspired many to embrace African-made solutions and believe in the possibility of homegrown advancement.
To his followers and admirers, he was more than a leader; he was a father, a visionary, and a beacon of hope.
The family has appealed to the public for privacy during this period of mourning, with details of funeral arrangements to be announced later.
“Apostle Safo was a true genius, the beacon of hope for many, a father to the fatherless. Ghana has indeed lost a gallant son and a true legend,” the statement read.
