Renowned sound engineer and music producer Appiah Dankwah, has revealed what led him to create his famous signature jingle ‘Appietus in the mix’

He disclosed that he was compelled to produce the well-known signature jingle when his wife threatened to file for divorce after he had earlier refused several advise from his wife to create his own signature jingle.

He explained that despite a signature jingle from fellow sound engineers at the time, his focus was to just do is sound engineering and music production without any signature jingle.

But an insistence from his wife compelled him to create his trademark jingle, “Appietus in the mix,” to wit “Appiah and his tools” in his music production, which propelled him to fame.

In a video shared on TikTok, he explained that the move was necessitated by the fact that, at that time, almost all the big producers had a signature jingle to their works, but he did not have one.

He mentioned that Jeff Quaye used “JQ” while Hammer used “The Last Two” as their respective identified signature jingles. According to him, he was with Shatta Wale in a studio but left him to attend to other matters in the studio, his delay caused Shatta to shout his name ‘Appietus’ ‘Appietus’ which is what has now been used as part of the jingle.

“My wife threatened to divorce me because I refused to heed her advice to also add a signature jingle to my production as others did, and she packed her things one day to leave my house,” he said.

He disclosed in the interview that the original voice on the “Appietus in the mix” was that of Shatta Wale, but the artist was unaware of this because the idea was not consciously conceived.

“I was recording Shatta in the studio, and a call came through, so I left him behind to attend to the call. When he finished, I was still not in, so he started shouting ‘Appietus!! Appietus!!’ and it was that portion that I eventually used to create the Appietus in the mix signature jingle,” he stated.
