Asante Kotoko is interested in signing Great Olympics goalkeeper Benjamin Asare ahead of the new Ghana Premier League campaign.

Asare was a standout performer for Great Olympics despite the club’s inability to retain their status in the Ghanaian top-flight in the just concluded season.

The 31-year shot-stopper ended the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League with the most clean sheets. He kept 16 clean sheets in 34 games, the highest among goalkeepers.

Asare has become a transfer target for several clubs including Asante Kotoko due to his eye-pleasing performance for Great Olympics.

In a very poor campaign that saw the Olympics relegated from the Premier League to the Access Bank Division One League Zone 3, goalkeeper Benjamin Asare emerged as a rare high point of the season.

The Porcupine Warriors are expected to part ways with captain Danlad Ibrahim and Moise Pouaty after the expiration of their contracts.

However, the Ghanaian giants are said to have begun talks with Great Olympics over a possible transfer of the goalkeeper in the summer window.

Asare, keeping 16 clean sheets in the Ghana Premier League is a testament to his outstanding performance.

Meanwhile, Great Olympics will battle in the Division One League next season after failing to survive relegation.

They ended the 2023/2024 campaign with 11 wins, 11 draws, and 12 losses, including a crucial goalless draw with city rivals Hearts of Oak, which meant Olympics’ survival destiny wasn’t in their hands.
