Asante Kotoko is bigger than any political party in Ghana — Nana Yaw Amponsah
The newly appointed Chief Executive of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah has described the Kumasi-based club as the biggest brand in the West African nation.
According to the 2019 Ghana Football Association Presidential candidate, no Political party in Ghana comes close to the brand of the club.
Amponsah has been appointed to head the club’s top position on a three-year deal under the 12-member board of directors named by the club’s owner Otumfuo Osei Tutu II two months ago.
Speaking at his unveiling in Kumasi on Friday, August, 7, 2020 Nana Yaw Amponsah assured the fans that they are going to consistently compete in the FIFA Club World Cup.
“I’m going to make sure Kotoko participate in the FIFA Club World Cup,” he said amid applause from the teeming Kotoko fans present.
He stated that the Asante Kotoko has a huge brand than the two biggest Political parties in Ghana — National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He said that the two biggest Political parties can’t be compared to the two-time CAF Champions League with its huge fan base.
“Asante Kotoko is the biggest brand in Ghana not even a Political party can be compared to this club,” Amponsah said.
“None of the two biggest Political parties in Ghana can be compared to Kotoko”
He has joined Asante Kotoko as their new Chief Executive Officer to replace George Amoako who was sacked by the club’s board of directors in June.
