Asante Kotoko has presented the 2024/25 FA Cup trophy to the club’s life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The Porcupine Warriors were crowned champions after a hard-fought 2-1 victory against lower-tier side Golden Kick FC on Sunday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Kwame Opoku put the Reds ahead early in the game, but Golden Kick equalized through Bless Ege, who scored a brilliant free kick to end the first half at 1-1.
The match took a dramatic turn when Kotoko was awarded a late penalty. Opoku stepped up to convert the spot kick, securing the win for Karim Zito’s side and earning their 10th FA Cup title.
After arriving in Kumasi on Monday, June 16, the team presented the trophy to Otumfuo on Wednesday, June 18.
The Kotoko delegation was led by Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), along with Kwesi Appiah and Malik Jabir, the club’s technical director.
Otumfuo praised the team for their hard-fought victory and encouraged them to perform well in Africa next season.
Asante Kotoko will compete in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup following their FA Cup victory.
