Nigerian music star Ayra Starr is making her acting debut in the upcoming film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel, ‘Children of Blood and Bone.’
Ayra Starr joins an impressive cast that includes legendary Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, marking a significant moment for African representation in global cinema.
The film, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, features a stellar lineup of Hollywood heavyweights, including Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Other notable stars include Regina King, Thuso Mbedu as Zélie, Tosin Cole as Tzain, Amandla Stenberg as Princess Amari, and Damson Idris as Prince Inan.
Set in the fictional African kingdom of Orïsha, Children of Blood and Bone follows Zélie, a brave warrior fighting to restore her people’s lost magic after years of oppression.
The film is scheduled to take place in South Africa, with the movie expected to premiere in early 2027.
