Bisa Kdei is not my ghostwriter – Gyakie
Sensational Ghanaian songstress, Jackeline Acheampong, known professionally as Gyakie has refuted claims circulating on social media that highlife artist Bisa Kdei has been the ghostwriter for all her songs.
The ‘Need Me’ hitmaker clarified that she has created all her songs since 2019 after releasing her first single titled ‘Love is Pretty’, which paved way for another single ‘Never Like This, and that none of the songs she performed are covers.
Although Bisa Kdei is the one Gyakie holds in great reverence in the entertainment industry for being the first to believe in her talent and was the first to inform her that she could make it as a singer, she insists that the ‘Mansa’ crooner did not create any of her songs.
“My name is Gyakie. I’m a singer and a songwriter. Ever since my first song came out, I have written every single song that has come out myself. I write my songs and that’s just about it, so please stop that.
“I have been seeing it online a lot that Bisa Kdei is my ghostwriter. He is somebody I love his music and he’s one person that trusted my sound from the beginning. So I respect him for that,” she clarified.
“My manager actually gave me that name and I mean birds sing beautifully and I sing beautifully as well, so it makes so much sense to call me the songbird,” she told GTV.
Songbird Gyakie recently released her first music installment of the year, a song titled ‘Something’, live across all digital streaming platforms.
Released worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment West Africa, the track is produced by Nigerian hitmaker – P.Prime, whose impressive resume of hits includes Wizkid, Asa, Fireboy DML, and DJ Cuppy. Gyakie’s expression on the Banku sound is pure joy, and her delicious minty vocals arrive summer-ready.
She has been nominated for ‘Best West African Act’ at the 15th annual Headies Music Awards in Atlanta this September.
