Black Stars: Joseph Wollacott cleared to train on Wednesday after injury scare

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) medical team has confirmed that goalkeeper Joseph Wollacott will be available for selection on Thursday for the clash against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The goalkeeper suffered an injury scare on Tuesday during training at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

However, after an assessment, the medical team of the Ghana FA has concluded that it was nothing serious and the goalkeeper can train on Wednesday.

“Goalkeeper Joseph Wollacott hobbled off during training on Tuesday evening after suffering a soft tissue contusion of the right big toe.

“He was immediately assessed by the medical team and given emergency treatment. Wollacott was later reassessed in the medical room at the team hotel and currently, there are no major medical worries since the player is almost pain free.

“The medical team would like to assure the football public that Wollacott will be available for selection as he has been cleared to train on Wednesday,” the GFA said in a communique on Tuesday night.

The game between Ghana and Angola comes off on Thursday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The game will kick off at 4pm.
