Black Stars return to Ghana after crashing out of AFCON

The senior national soccer team, Black Stars has arrived in Ghana after their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations fiasco.

The four-time African recorded their worse performance at the AFCON exiting from the group stages of the tournament without a win and managing just a point from three games.

Ghana in their last Group C match suffered a 3-2 defeat to AFCON debutants Comoros on Tuesday at the Roumde Adjia stadium, a result that saw them exit from the tournament.

The Black Stars arrived at the Kotoka International Airport at 3 am today and went through a special Covid-19 test.

The players are expected to depart to their various clubs in the coming days.

The defeat has sparked a wave of anger and controversy in the West African nation with widespread calls for the sacking of Milovan Rajevac and massive reforms.

The Serbian was the man to lead the Black Stars to the final in 2010 and the World Cup quarter-finals that same year.

But times are harder for Ghanaian fans after Rajevac could only guide them through to Africa’s play-offs for this year’s World Cup.

After only topping their qualifying group ahead of South Africa on goals scored, the West African giants are unseeded for the play-off draw – facing one of Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Nigeria for a place in Qatar.

Ghana’s disjointed performances has signaled a new low for Ghana football amid talks for serious reforms in the wake of the shameful output.

The Black Stars next assignment will be the final World Cup play-offs scheduled for March 2022.
