Boy dies after after falling from mango tree

A class four pupil at Tease in the Afram Plains South District in the Eastern Region met his untimely death when he fell from a mango tree, throwing the community into a state of shock and mourning.

Starr FM reported that the deceased, Gyagadu Kwame Moses, had climbed a mango tree in his school, Tease D/A Primary School, ostensibly to plug some fruits to eat.

But it turned tragic. Kwame fell from the tree and remained unconscious. A friend of the deceased, who was with him, quickly dashed home to report the incident to the deceased’s grandmother, instead of alerting school authorities.

A teacher conveyed the pupil to the Tease Presbyterian Health Center for treatment prior to the grandmother’s arrival at the scene.

But the case was beyond the health facility, so he was referred to the Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The incident reportedly happened when school authorities were busy with rehearsals ahead of the March 6, Independence Day Parade.

A tricycle knocked down the grandmother of the boy, while she was following up on the incident. She sustained injuries but was treated and discharged by the Tease Health Center.

Meanwhile, the body of the pupil has been deposited at the Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital Morgue.
