Bridge project in Ejisu halted as excavator parts ‘get missing’

Work on the Ejisu-Donaso bridge project in the Ashanti region has stalled as thieves steal parts of excavators working on the site.

Controller boards, injectors and pumps of three excavators have gone missing overnight, Henry Duah Boateng who works on the site told JoyNews in an interview monitored by theghanareport.com.

The construction which is being supervised by Messer Kofi Job Company Limited started about a year ago after being broken for the past two years.

The bridge under construction will link Ejisu to Donaso and other areas in the Ashanti Region.

Motorists and commuters have had to truncate their journey on one side of the collapsed bridges and continue in another vehicle to the other side.

The work was scheduled to have been completed and the road reopened to traffic but the disappearance of excavator parts means further delay.

The police have launched investigations into the incident while some NPP youth in the area say they suspect sabotage.
