CAS rejects Eurafrica FC’s stay application in case involving Felix Afena-Gyan

The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has made a decision in the case of Eurafrica Football Club against Sunyani The Wisers FC and the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

CAS rejected Eurafrica FC’s application for stay and provisional measures, which was filed on March 20, 2023, under the procedure CAS 2023/A/9517.

According to the ruling, Eurafrica FC is now obligated to pay €62,000.00 to Sunyani-based Wisers FC. Additionally, they are required to pay 10% of the transfer fee to the Ghana Football Association.

The GFA Appeals Committee had previously directed Eurafrica FC to make these payments, and CAS upheld this decision.

Eurafrica FC has been given a seven-day deadline by the GFA Appeals Committee to fulfill the payment obligations. Failure to comply within the specified timeframe may result in further consequences for the club.

The CAS decision is connected to the GFA Player Status Committee’s (PSC) ruling on Wisers FC’s application for compensation and a percentage of the onward transfer fee from AS Roma regarding Felix Afena Gyan.

The GFA Appeals Committee affirmed this decision, prompting Eurafrica FC to file an application with CAS and request a Stay of Execution.
