The Colleges of Education Non-Teaching Staff Association of Ghana (CENTSAG) has called off its strike, which began on Monday, November 14, 2022.

CENTSAG, together with the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG), embarked on the strike after several warnings over the government’s failure to address issues regarding their welfare.

According to a press statement dated November 13, 2022, the two unions affirmed their decision after they held separate emergency meetings on Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12, 2022.

“The National Councils of CETAG and CENTSAG wish to use this communique to entreat all members, with the exception of the colleges’ security department, to comply with the decision to withdraw our services indefinitely until the employer has unconditionally addressed all our concerns regarding CoS, effective date for placing First Degree Holders, retrospective deductions, variation of fuel, vehicle maintenance and off-campus allowance as well as compensation for the all-year-round work,” the statement stated.

This came after the CETAG and CENTSAG gave the government a 5-day ultimatum on Sunday, November 6, 2022.

According to CENTSAG, its decision to call off its strike was a result of the successful completion and signing of its Conditions of Service and a review of the effective date for the placement of first-degree holders.
