Charles Bissue bloodied in fight with NPP MP, Mireku Duker

Photos have emerged showing the battered face of the Western Regional Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Charles Bissue.

Mr Bissue, who is also a presidential staffer, had a bloodied eye after a brawl with NPP MP for Tarkwa-Nsuem, George Mireku Duker.

Mr Duker on the other hand had a swollen hand after the brawl.

According to JoyNews, the fight between the two NPP politicians occurred at the Kingston Hotel in Takoradi during a workshop for regional party executives and parliamentary candidates.

Reports had it that the two have been at loggerheads since the party’s primaries. It is alleged that Mr Bissue supported another candidate against the incumbent during the party’s primaries.

Duker won the elections to represent the party in spite of the open campaign against him by the regional secretary, Bissue. The bad blood between the two however, has not been resolved, hence the brawl to perhaps, settle matters once and for all.

During the meeting, a misunderstanding ensued between the two, resulting in a fist cuff.

Eyewitnesses say the presidential staffer grabbed the lawmaker’s finger and bit it.

The two then traded ferocious punches before tempers were calmed by the other party faithfulls also gathered at the meeting grounds.

Theghanareport.com checks have revealed that ahead of the NPP primaries in the Western region, some MPs had grievances against Charles Bissue and other regional executives.

Some MPs claimed they were undermined by some regional executives in a bid to unseat them with the favorites of Bissue.

After he emerged victorious in a nerve-wracking primary in the Efia constituency, the MP for the area,  Joseph Cudjoe, called for reconciliation.

He urged the regional executives, particularly, the secretary and the organiser to reconcile with all MPs in the region whom they are alleged to have undermined ahead of the elections.

“I did not say much because I knew the delegates knew the truth. But the national election is a big deal,” the Deputy Energy minister told TV3 news at the time.

However, it seems the advice by the sitting MP was not headed to, hence the brawl between the two leading party agents in the region.

Political watchers believe the national executives need to ruin in the two personalities as their actions have the tendency to bring about a divisive front with barely less than 80 days to the general elections.
