COCOBOD maintains cocoa price for 2025/2026 season despite regional increases
The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has confirmed that the producer price of cocoa will remain unchanged for the 2025/2026 season, despite price hikes in neighbouring countries and continued market uncertainty.
In an official letter dated April 8 and addressed to the Licensed Cocoa Buyers’ Association of Ghana (LICOBAG), COCOBOD explained that the decision follows a thorough assessment of the industry’s operational and financial landscape.
The Board emphasized that maintaining the current price is aimed at ensuring stability for both farmers and stakeholders in the cocoa value chain.
“This decision follows a thorough review of the operational and financial realities facing the cocoa sector,” said Dr. James Kofi Kutoati, Acting Deputy Chief Executive of Operations at COCOBOD.
Ghana’s current producer price remains at GH₵3,100 per 64kg bag or GH₵49,600 per tonne — a modest 0.03% increase from the rate set for the 2024/2025 season.
COCOBOD emphasized that maintaining the price is intended to stabilize the market and support long-term sustainability across the cocoa value chain.
The decision also reflects ongoing efforts to align with global market trends while safeguarding the livelihoods of cocoa farmers.
Although Côte d’Ivoire recently raised its producer price, Ghana has opted for a cautious approach, choosing to hold steady for now.
COCOBOD added that it may revisit producer prices, fees, and stakeholder margins later in the season, depending on market developments.
