Coronavirus: Use ‘Akan drama’ to educate masses – Anita Erskine

Media personality, Anita Erskine, has waded into conservations on educating the masses on the deadly novel coronavirus using the local dialect.

In a Facebook post, she advised the government to roll out coronavirus awareness and education in local languages.

According to her, local television programs like GTV’s ‘showcase’ which was aired in various local dialects, the Thursday theatre, Osofo Dadzie, Obra Concert party, and many others in the past were a good means of educating the audience and should be adopted to provide very important information on the coronavirus pandemic to augment government’s efforts.

Her comments come amid growing concerns on the use of English as the sole means of informing the public on the deadly virus, thereby leaving out a good number of citizens who are deficient in the language.
