Crystal Palace beat Liverpool 3-2 on penalties to lift the Community Shield after the two sides ended their exciting cup match at 2-all at Wembley Stadium.

Liverpool twice went ahead through Hugo Ekitike, 4th minute, and Jeremie Frimpong, 21st minute, but Palace never gave up, first levelling up in the 17th minute through a penalty converted by Jean-Philippe Mateta, and then Ismaila Sarr with the second equaliser in the 77th minute.

During the shootout, Mohamed Salah, Alexis Mac Allister, and Harvey Elliot missed, with Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai scoring.

On the Palace front, Mateta, Sarr and Justin Devenny scored, with Eberechi Eze and Boma Sosa missing their kicks.
