Cynthia Lumor appointed first Deputy MD of Tullow Ghana

Tullow Ghana, a subsidiary of oil and gas exploration firm, Tullow Oil PLC, has appointment Cynthia Lumor as its Deputy Managing Director (MD), effective October 1, 2021.

She is the first to be appointed Deputy MD of Tullow Ghana since the oil firm began operations in the country in 2006.

Mrs Lumor would be responsible for the integration of the non-technical functions in Ghana, at a time that the oil and gas company has planned to invest over $4 billion in the country over the next 10 years.

Commenting on her appointment, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tullow, Rahul Dhir said he was delighted about her elevation to her new role.

He added that since his assumption of office last year, “Cynthia has been instrumental in managing our key government and external relationships in Ghana, and her promotion reflects her important role in delivering Tullow’s strategy in Ghana.”

Previous position at Tullow

Before this new appointment, she was Director for Corporate Affairs with oversight responsibility of the company’s external affairs and social performance as well as human resources, information systems and facilities management.

Mrs Lumor has several years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, having previously worked for the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation as Principal Legal Officer.

She was also involved in the drafting of the Petroleum Law, which created the structure and legal framework for an independent regulator and the Oil and Gas industry.

Other work experience

She joined Tullow Ghana in 2017 from Scancom Ltd (MTN Ghana) where she was the Corporate Services Executive.

Prior to working with MTN Ghana, she was the Information Specialist for AT&T, an American telecommunications conglomerate that has been in existence for over 18-years.

She rose to become Director in charge of the Research and Analysis Department before leaving the company.

Mrs Lumor holds an LLB (Hons) from University of Ghana and a practising certificate from the Ghana School of Law. She is a mother of three.
