The Minority caucus in Parliament has petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to probe Sammy Gyamfi over his dollar gift.

The controversial incident occurred on Saturday, May 10, 2025, when the acting Goldbod CEO offered an undisclosed sum of dollars to self-acclaimed evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.

The opposition NPP, in a petition submitted on May 14, 2025, calls for a thorough examination into the circumstances surrounding the alleged gift, which the Minority contends may constitute a breach of public trust and potential abuse of office.

The Minority raised significant ethical and legal issues regarding the recent transaction involving Mr. Gyamfi, who serves as a prominent NDC official while also holding the position of acting Managing Director of the Gold Board.

They contend that any financial interactions between a public official and a controversial figure like Agradaa, who has encountered various legal battles, should be scrutinised to maintain the integrity of public service.

Meanwhile, CHRAJ, OSP, and IGP have confirmed that they have received the petition and are currently conducting preliminary assessments.

The results of these investigations may significantly impact public confidence in political institutions and raise questions about ethical standards for public officials.

Notably, a private citizen who had submitted a petition to the CHRAJ concerning this issue has since retracted that petition.

This development comes after President John Dramani Mahama, on May 14, 2025, pardoned Sammy Gyamfi over the controversial issue.
