The rapper French Montana, born Karim Kharbouch, has confirmed his engagement to the Dubai princess Sheikha Mahra Mohammed Rashed Al Maktoum, a Montana representative revealed on Wednesday (27 August).

The engagement reportedly took place in June during Paris Fashion Week, shortly after Montana made his runway debut for the 3.Paradis ready-to-wear spring/summer 2026 collection.

Sheikha Mahra and Montana have been seen together in recent months in Dubai, Morocco and Paris, where they left a “love lock” on the Pont des Arts bridge, fuelling speculation about their relationship.

The news has generated an international buzz, not only because of Montana’s music career but also because of Sheikha Mahra’s high-profile personal life.

In July 2024, she announced her divorce from Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed in a dramatic Instagram post that read, “Dear Husband, as you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you.”

The split attracted global attention partly because the couple shares a daughter.

Both families are said to be supportive of the new union, which has been described as a meeting of royalty and celebrity.

French Montana, born in Morocco in 1984, moved to the United States at 13 and built a successful career in rap with hits such as “Unforgettable”. Reports estimate his personal wealth at more than $35 million.

Sheikha Mahra, meanwhile, is an heiress reputedly worth $18 billion. She is known for her philanthropic work, her business ventures (including a perfume line), and her role as a public figure in Dubai.

The couple’s engagement marks a striking intersection of cultures and lifestyles, and has attracted attention from Dubai to New York and beyond.
