EC Chairperson to appear before Parliament over Ablekuma North collation
The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, is expected to appear before Parliament this week to discuss the ongoing concerns regarding the unresolved parliamentary election in the Ablekuma North Constituency.
Since the general elections on December 7, the constituency has been without a Member of Parliament due to disagreements over the collation of votes from various polling centres.
As a result, constituents have been unrepresented in Parliament for over six months.
On June 4, 2025, the Minority caucus officially requested that the Ghana Police Service ensure adequate security for the Electoral Commission to facilitate a safe and transparent re-collation process.

Jean Mensa will provide an update to the Chamber on the steps taken thus far to resolve the situation.
Legislators are likely to seek clarification regarding the Electoral Commission’s timeline for completing the collation and announcing the election results.
Meanwhile, Ewurabena Aubyn, the parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress, and Akua Afriyie have erected billboards claiming victory, even though the Electoral Commission (EC) has yet to declare the final results of the parliamentary election.
