The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially announced that the Council of State elections for the North East and Ashanti Regions will be held again on Monday, February 17, 2025.
The rerun in the North East Region is necessary due to a tie, with both candidates receiving six votes each.
In a statement dated Wednesday, February 12, the EC reassured the public that it has communicated with the Ghana Police Service and the National Election Security Taskforce to ensure that security measures are enhanced at the polling venues, aiming to prevent potential disruptions.
Meanwhile, fourteen people have already booked seats to serve on the newly constituted Council of State after Tuesday’s keenly contested elections across the country.
