ECG attributes rainstorm for power outages on June 26

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has attributed the power outage in most parts of Accra on June 26, 2025, to a severe rainstorm that affected parts of the region.

The company disclosed this in a statement dated June 26, 2025.

“The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) wishes to inform our cherished customers that the heavy rainstorm that hit parts of the Greater Accra Region today (Thursday, 26th June, 2025) has caused outages within our network,” the company noted in the release.

The statement assured that “ECG wishes to assure all affected customers that our Engineers are working assiduously to repair the faults and restore power supply”.

“Individual/localised outages and incidents of fallen or sagging conductors within customers’ vicinities should be reported to the ECG Call Centre on 0302-611611, the nearest ECG office, or reach us on our social media handles via @ECGghOfficial on Facebook, X, or Instagram for prompt intervention,” the ECG urged.

The rainstorm that hit the Greater Accra Region on the evening of June 26 lasted over two hours and was accompanied by strong winds, impacting several areas.

This announcement serves as a reminder for electricity consumers to make alternative arrangements and to be patient as the company works to resolve the issues.
