Emmanuel Adebayor announces his retirement from football
Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor’s football career is now officially over. The 39-year-old former footballer announced his retirement from football in a video posted on his Instagram account on Monday. Adebayor had been playing for his country’s AC Semassi FC since the summer of 2021.
Adebayor has previously played for a number of notable European teams, including FC Metz, AS Monaco, Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Tottenham Hotspur. In 593 professional games spanning more than 20 years, he has scored 207 goals and given 65 assists.
Adebayor who made 66 appearances and scored 29 goals for Togo was regarded as one of Africa’s top attackers of his generation.
