Barring any last-minute changes, clubs in the local league will no longer provide accommodation and transportation for officiating officials as the Ghana Football Association has decided to shoulder the burden.

The move is part of reforms, the new administration is introducing, to root out the possibility of club administrators conniving with referees and linesmen to fix matches.

President of the FA Mr Kurt Okraku, express optimism that officiating will be better in the coming season, which starts on Saturday, December 21, 2019.

Many referees were trapped and caught in the work of an investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Number 12  work which exposed corruption in football in Ghana.

It resulted in the resignation of the then GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi and dismissal of many Ghanaian referees.

To stamp some credibility among the officiating officials the GFA President said

“We started the process by engaging the Referee’s Association of Ghana. We continued with the appointment of sub-committees for referees. Beyond which we organised an integrity seminar for the referees.

“ The referees’ list is being scrutinised and downsized. We are improving financial incentives giving to referees,” he said at the FA Ordinary Congress on Thursday.

“We are arranging a transport company and hotel to be back of the strategy to ensure we minimize the human connection factor in their attempt to deliver good service to us,” he said
