Renowned entertainment analyst, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has urged arts pundits to consider their roles as a vital force in the creative industry.
According to him, entertainment punditry is not a mere job without significance but has been and continues to be an essential contributor to the vibrant entertainment ecosystem of the country.
Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has earned a reputable name for himself in the creative industry, most importantly for his insightful commentary on entertainment matters.
During his submission as a speaker on Graphic Showbiz’s Twitter Dialogue Series on the era of entertainment pundits yesterday, Arnold urged entertainment pundits to see their work as a broader contribution to the overall entertainment landscape in the nation by shaping the narratives, opinions, and trends within the Ghanaian entertainment industry.
“We are part of the entertainment ecosystem. What people fail to realise is that nobody comes with punditry as a primary calling. And so for example, the names you listed including Francis Doku, Bullgod and Mark Okraku Mantey are all pundits with primary roles.
” I come in as a pundit as an entertainment journalist and that is my primary role.
“If I am called to speak, I’m called to speak because I’m an entertainment journalist and I have some sort of expertise to offer to shape a cause. It’s not a job, it’s a role.
We are part of the system that shapes the industry.
He also emphasised that pundits should approach their roles with integrity, accuracy, and professionalism to maintain the credibility and trust of their audience.
He held that, by doing so, they not only provide valuable insights but also contribute to the growth and sustainability of the entertainment sector.
