Ernest Nuamah’s Lyon to remain in Ligue 1 after successful appeal
Ghana forward Ernest Nuamah will continue his top-flight football career in France next season, as Olympique Lyon has officially won their appeal to remain in Ligue 1.
Initially, the DNCG, which is the financial watchdog for French football, had ruled that the seven-time French champions would be relegated to Ligue 2 due to financial irregularities. However, after appealing this decision, Lyon has successfully overturned it.
The club released a statement shortly after the decision was confirmed, saying:
“Today’s decision is the first step to restore confidence in Olympique Lyonnais. We can now focus our attention on sporting objectives, fully preparing for next season!”
This verdict means that Lyon will participate in the UEFA Europa League next season, keeping Ernest Nuamah in the European spotlight after a strong finish to the 2024/25 campaign.
Lyon’s survival in Ligue 1 is a significant relief for both players and fans, as the club aims to bounce back with renewed focus and ambition.
