Head coach of Kpando Heart of Lions Bashir Hayford remains unfazed despite his team’s unbeaten run coming to an end at the hands of Bibiani Gold Stars.
Gold Stars beat Lions 3-1 at the Dun’s Park with Gold Stars top scorer Samuel Attah Kumi scoring a late penalty to seal the win for the defending league champions.
Prior to the loss, Lions hadn’t lost any of the five games they had played in the 2025-2026 Ghana Premier League season; the unbeaten run included back to back goalless draws against Harts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
However, the team lost its unbeaten run in its sixth league outing but veteran coach Bashir Hayford remained upbeat despite the loss in a post-game presser.
“Every Napoleon has got its waterloo. We have not been beaten for the [past] five matches but today…they have beaten us, that is football.”

“It is going to be a wake-up call…after all some people can also beat us” Bashir Hayford said.
After playing three straight games away from home, Lions return to Kpando to take on Basake Holy Stars on Friday, October 24 at 17:00 GMT.
