A Circuit Court in Accra has ordered a psychiatric evaluation for Adinda-Akpo Abdou Moudjibou, a Togolese national accused of involvement in a series of high-profile robberies in Ghana.
Known by the alias Maxwell, Abdou Moudjibou was charged alongside two others, Marzouk Alidu and Mohammed Djandjo, who are currently on the run.
The charges include robbery and abetment of robbery.
During proceedings on Tuesday, May 20, Police Prosecutor ASP Richard Amoah told the court that Moudjibou has been behaving erratically while in custody.
According to him, the suspect has been observed eating his excreta, raising serious concerns about his mental state.
“We’re asking the court to allow a psychiatric assessment to determine if he is mentally fit to stand trial. If he must remain in custody, we request that it be at the National Intelligence Bureau instead of a regular police station, as we can’t be sure if this is a calculated tactic or a genuine issue,” ASP Amoah said.

The prosecution alleges that Moudjibou was involved in the theft of $200,000, a gold wrist chain valued at GH¢20,000, a gold necklace worth GH¢18,000, other jewellery estimated at GH¢5,000, and a registered CZ 75.5P pistol.
After listening to the prosecution’s plea, the presiding judge ruled that Moudjibou be transferred into the custody of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for psychiatric evaluation before further proceedings.
The case has drawn public attention not only for the scale of the alleged robberies but also for the unusual behaviour of the accused, prompting questions about his mental health and its implications for justice.
