Fair Wages and Mortuary workers make progress in negotiations

A meeting between the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) and the Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) on concerns by the health workers ended on a positive note.

The meeting held, June 11, 2025, attracted representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Finance, and Representatives of teaching hospitals and the leadership of the MOWAG.

The discussion focused on addressing outstanding allowances owed to mortuary workers.

During the discussions, the Chief Executive of the FWSC, Dr George Smith-Graham, acknowledged the concerns of the mortuary workers and assured them that he would collaborate with the relevant authorities to address the issues raised at the meeting.

President of MOWAG, Mr Richard Kofi Jordan, urged the Commission to honour its commitments to avoid any potential industrial action that could disrupt health services in the country.

He also reaffirmed the Association’s dedication to peaceful dialogue in resolving their grievances.
