The late Nana Konadu Yiadom III was the second most influential figure in Asanteman.

Her death at age 98 has thrown the Asante Kingdom, especially, into mourning due to her significance to the people in the Ashanti Region.

Her death on August 7, 2025, adds to the number of great minds the nation has lost in these few days in August alone.

  • Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III was born in 1927 to the 13th Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem III (1977-2016), and Opanin Kofi Foffie.
  • She was called Nana Panin in her childhood.
  • In 1959, at the age of about 22, Nana Panin was christened and baptised into the Saviour Church of Ghana with the Christian name Ruth.
  • She was also of the Anglican church by convention because, historically, every Asantehene and Asantehemaa is an automatic member and patron of the Anglican Church.
  • She was the 14th Queen of Asante and the firstborn of Asantehemaa Nana Afia Kobi’s five children.
  • She was separated from her biological mother and given to her aunt (mother’s sister), Nana Afia Konadu, at an early age and raised at Ashanti New Town (Ash-Town), a suburb of Kumasi.
  • She has not had a formal education.
  • Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III was married to Opanin Kwame Boateng, a blacksmith by profession who hailed from Aduman, near Kumasi.
  • She was a caterer, farmer and trader.
  • Her hobbies were cooking, music and dance.
  • Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III became a Queen mother on the 6th of February, 2017, following the passing of her biological mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem III, who died in 2016 at age 111.
  • A prophecy by Kwaku Firi Bosomfo, a priest, foretold her ascension to the throne, which came to pass when she became the 14th Asantehemaa in 2016.
  • During her reign, she established her own court where all her judgements were hailed as fair.
  • A school built by the Saviour Church of Ghana at Bonwire has been named after her, Nana Konadu Saviour School.
