Fire ravages multiple structures at Madina Redco

A devastating fire, which broke out on Sunday, August 3, engulfed several makeshift wooden and metal structures near the Madina Redco Flats.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service, the team received an emergency call at 12:36 p.m., and the first fire truck from the Madina Fire Station reached the site just four minutes later, at 12:40 p.m.

Additional support arrived from fire stations at Legon, Abelempke, and the GNFS Headquarters, bringing the total number of fire engines to five.

The fire resulted in significant damage to numerous structures serving both commercial and residential purposes, along with utility poles and items belonging to traders.

Firefighters were able to bring the situation under control by 1:56 p.m.

They are currently conducting operations to extinguish any remaining hotspots fully.

Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties, and investigations are underway to uncover the cause of the fire.
