Fire ravages over 100 wooden structures at Ashaiman

Some residents of Ashaiman Light Industrial Area, popularly known as Fitter Line, are counting their losses following a devastating fire which occurred on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

The blaze caused extensive damage, destroying over 100 wooden structures and leaving two metal containers entirely burnt out.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) reported via Facebook that they received the emergency call at 03:31 hrs.

Responding quickly, their personnel arrived on the scene just seven minutes later, at 03:38 hrs.

Firefighters acted decisively, confining the fire by 04:13 hours, gaining control by 04:36 hours, and completely extinguishing the flames by 06:35 hours.

The fire severely affected this densely populated industrial area, with one Mazda saloon car (registration number GN 6085-22) and two metal containers, along with their contents, sustaining damage. Fortunately, through the dedicated efforts of the firefighting team, more than 20 wooden structures, several containers, and eight vehicles were saved from destruction.

A constructive note amid the chaos is that the GNFS confirmed there were no reported injuries or fatalities, which is a relief given the area’s usual hustle and bustle of artisans, traders, and mechanics.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the GNFS is asking for patience from the community as they conduct a thorough assessment of the situation.
